Sustainability

Committed to sustainability

aguacate sostenible

At Avocoop, we see sustainability as the core of our purpose and the basis of our daily work, from cultivation to final delivery. Our model focuses on being at the source, with a direct presence in Spain, Peru, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and Colombia, which allows us to manage each stage responsibly.

Working in different origins allows us to adapt to different climatic conditions, optimizing resources and reducing risks. In addition, we collaborate with co-producers and local alliances to promote responsible production based on traceability and transparency.

Responsible Production and Product Optimization

Our commitment is reflected in a model that aims to ensure high-quality, environmentally friendly production, with a particular focus on protecting soil fertility and implementing sustainable practices to reduce our environmental impact.

We control every stage of production and marketing, and our processing plants are geared towards efficiency and resource optimization, reducing losses and improving logistics planning. We also practice responsible agricultural management, with controlled treatments that prioritize soil and environmental care.

This approach is complemented by a commitment to sustainable and innovative packaging solutions, which help minimize environmental impact in the commercial phase as well.

Positive impact on communities: social value and local economy

For Avocoop, sustainability also means generating social impact. We work locally to train and empower workers, boost the economy in rural areas, and strengthen the social fabric of the communities linked to our crops.

Our model promotes a balance between economic, social, and environmental well-being, developing people and generating opportunities in the territories where we operate. Together with our partner co-producers, we extend good practices for more professional and sustainable agriculture, creating long-term value for the environment, communities, and future generations.

We comply with the highest standards in Europe

We hold the following internationally recognized certifications for exporting to Europe. This guarantees that we operate in accordance with the most demanding standards of ethical and sustainable agricultural practices.

Logo Global GAP

GLOBALG.A.P is an international standard recognized by the United Nations that requires producers and suppliers to comply with good agricultural practices, covering food safety, fair and safe working conditions, and environmental sustainability. It is also an essential requirement for marketing avocados in the European market.

Rainforest Alliance

The Rainforest Alliance sustainable agriculture standard recognizes the commitment of an agricultural or fruit company to generating a positive social, environmental, and economic impact, while providing farmers with a practical framework for improving their livelihoods and protecting the environment. This framework guides producers in adapting to climate change, increasing their productivity, setting sustainability performance goals, and directing their investments toward managing the most relevant risks.

Logo Smeta

Avocoop collaborates with CIFAL Málaga-UNITAR on the environmental education of young people in the Axarquía

Through Los Cascos Verdes, students from the district’s 31 municipalities will learn during the 2026-2027 school year to identify the environmental challenges around them and turn their ideas into real projects.

Presentation of the Los Cascos Verdes project with representatives of Avocoop, CIFAL Málaga–UNITAR and the Regional Government of Andalusia at the Mancomunidad Axarquía

As part of its sustainability strategy, Avocoop is joining Los Cascos Verdes (Green Helmets), the CIFAL Málaga-UNITAR educational initiative inspired by the United Nations Blue Helmets. The programme takes place in the Axarquía, a district that accounts for a large share of Europe’s avocado cultivation and forms part of the Spain origin of the company, an avocado producer and distributor at origin.

Participants, aged 10 to 18, will follow an online learning pathway on the Sustainable Development Goals and receive a certificate from CIFAL Málaga-UNITAR accrediting them as Green Helmets. Drawing on what they have learned, they will be able to design nature-based micro-projects together with local NGOs, and Avocoop will support the launch of one of them. The programme will close with a volunteering event open to families, students, businesses and residents of the district.

For Avocoop, the quality of every avocado depends on the health of the land where it is grown. That is why investing in the environmental education of the people who live there is a long-term commitment, because knowing, understanding and valuing the environment is the first step towards caring for it.
