Avocoop Group, a rising star in the conventional avocado market

Published in Alimarket

The avocado market is currently one of the most dynamic segments in the fruit sector in our country. It is a category with no apparent ceiling for growth and continues to attract new industrial projects that will increase production capacity by 2027 to meet rising demand in Europe. In addition to the expansion projects already reported by Alimarket—led by Trops, Montosa, Reyes Gutiérrez, and Exceltrop—it is also worth highlighting the growing role of Group Avocoop in conventional avocado production.

Its parent company is Avocoop, S.L., headquartered in Málaga, and equally owned by Francisco Claros—owner of Eurofresh Vegetales y Frutas—the Valencia-based Vicente Giner, and the Chilean group Agrícola Pacífico Sur (APS). In Spain, its main client is Mercadona, to which it supplies fruit from various origins to ensure a consistent, high-quality supply throughout the year. Although the Valencian retailer works with numerous suppliers to secure the availability of a fruit whose demand continues to grow, both fresh and as a ready-to-eat product (avocado pulp and guacamole).

To strengthen its global operations, Grupo Avocoop has launched new plantations in Chile, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, enabling it to increase volumes within their respective commercial windows. Additionally, in Chile it has acquired a new 100-hectare farm. On the other side of the Atlantic, specifically in Beniflá (Valencia)—at Vicente Giner’s facilities—it has expanded its packing and ripening capacity for this tropical fruit. Furthermore, the group has increased its packing capacity by adding 2,000 more tons at its facilities in the Dominican Republic, as well as at its warehouse in Peru, where capacity has grown by 1,500 tons.
